Il mito della velocità, del dinamismo sviluppati con i colori a olio della bandiera italiana su una tela di 257 cm x 381 cm. Trovarsi davanti a questa monumentale opera intitolata Il Genio Futurista, che fa parte della Collezione Biagiotti, significa avere l’opportunità vedere dal vivo un’opera che ha sancito la diffusione in tutta Europa di una corrente artistica e ideologica che ha aperto la strada alle avanguardie internazionali.
Esposto per la prima volta a Parigi nel 1925 all’Exposition des Arts décoratifs moderne, questo arazzo ha una composizione prismatica incentrata sulla figura di un uomo con la testa a stella, e viene considerato un omaggio a Tommaso Marinetti inventore del Futurismo, un nuovo concetto di arte, non più intesa come semplice rappresentazione, ma come azione concreta sul mondo, che nei temi affrontati si traduce in un inno alla modernità, al progresso ed incarna la visione ottimista e progressista di inizio secolo.
L’arazzo Il Genio Futurista è la rappresentazione precisa e riassuntiva di un processo geniale che porta l’artista alla coscienza dei rapporti dinamici dell’universo, a rappresentarli come forme e colori puri, avanguardia non solo di forme, ma anche e soprattutto di intuizioni intellettuali, di dimensioni che superano il visibile e danno corpo all’invisibile, come affermava lo stesso autore.
